Vikings- A member of the Norse (Scandinavian) seafaring traders, warriors and pirates who raided and colonized wide areas of Europe.

Ginnungagap- The yawning emptiness at the time of creation, which lay between the realms of fire and cold.


Nifleheim- Is the land of ice.

Muspellheim- Is a realm of fire.

Yggdrasil- Yggdrasil is the oldest of all trees. It stands in the center of the world and divides the planes.

Asgard- Home of the gods.

Midgard- Is the land of humans.

Hel- Is the world of the dead and also the goddess of the dead.

Bifrost Bridge- The bridge leading from the realm of mortals, Midgard, to the realm of the gods, Asgard.

Ymir- Ymir is a giant, Ymir was slain by Odin, The King of Niflheim, the first living creature, a frost giant who immerged from the ice in Ginnungagap, and he was evil.

Odin- The chief god of Norse mythology. A sky god, he lived in Asgard.

Frigg- Daughter of Fjorgyn, and wife of Odin, mother of Balder. A fertility goddess.

The Valkyries- Odin's battle of shield-maidens.

The Norns- The fates, goddesses of destiny. Urd, Verdandi, and Skuld. Past, Present, and Future.

Thor- Was the son of ODIN. He is identified with his thunderous "hammer".

Balder- The son of Odin and Freya and husband of Nanna, and the best, wisest, and most loved
of all the gods.

Njord- The sea god of fruitfulness who lives in Noa-tun, and the chief of the Vanir.

Frey- Twin brother of Freyja, concerned with fertility, control of sunlight, rain, fruitfulness and peace.

Freya- She is identified with the goddess of love and beauty, freya wore a unique suit or dress that allowed her to fly like a frigate bird from asgard.

Idunn- Wife of Bragi, keeper of the golden apples of eternal youth.

Loki- A trickster. Sly, deceitful, a master thief, not to be trusted. Nevertheless, Loki is charming, witty, quite capable, and possessed of a sardonic sense of humor which he aims at himself no less often than at others.

Fenrir- The monstrous wolf son of the god Loki. Fenrir will swallow the god Odin at the Ragnarok but will be killed by Odin's son, Vidar.

Jormungandr- The great dragon which lives in the Ocean-stream which runs around Midgard, a giant serpent.

Ragnarok- The final battle between gods and giants.

Runes- The Norse alphabet.
